Today I wanted to touch on creating an empowered mindset as it not only sets you up for success but also helps you to feel strong, confident and resilient.
It helps with believing in yourself, dealing with problems better and it helping you take action to make real and lasting change in your life.
It's not something we are born with though, it's something we grow into and develop over time, learn about and create for ourselves by way of reshaping our thoughts, feelings and beliefs.
Mindset work is also ongoing because we all have times where we feel blocked, distracted or just a bit off in general and its during those times where the work is most important.
So how do we create an empowered mindset?
We start with identifying those thoughts that feel disempowering and do not serve you anymore. Thoughts like: "its too hard, "It's not possible for me", I'm not motivated enough or I can't be consistent".
Then we look at each one more closely and dispel the lies behind those thoughts by starting to see them differently.
When we use words like "too hard", "not motivated enough" or "not consistent" it feels final and it causes the mind to be closed to seeing things differently.
When we ask ourselves questions such as:
Why do I really feel it's too hard?
What story am I telling myself about this feeling/situation?
Is what I'm telling myself really true?
What if there was an easier way?
What could I do differently to make it easier for myself?
What is one small change I can make to move towards it being easier?
...it causes us to see that the thought(s) we once had as not necessarily true or final. They can actually be changed and a solution can be found which helps you move more towards an empowered mindset.
Give this a go next time you feel blocked, distracted or just feel a bit off...
I personally like to use a journal for this process as it gives me time to sit and think about the answers.
It can be daunting the first time you do this but the more you do it the easier it will be come and the more empowered you will feel.
